Confession

I have a confession to make. I have had this in my attic for over four years...

Yes, it's a KitchenAid stand mixer. We received it as a wedding gift (May 1, 2004). I'd forgotten about it until Holly listed it as one of her favorite things. After talking to a few friends, I've decided I want to open use it. Unfortunately, I can't get to it from "my side" of the attic. It will require pulling down the stairs in the garage, climbing up and getting it. I asked Mike if we could make this happen tonight, and he wasn't up for the challenge. Hopefully it will grace my kitchen counter tomorrow. What should I make first?

** After posting this, I read it to Mike, and he reminded me of a story regarding the mixer. A couple of years ago, his mom bought our sister-in-law a mixer for Christmas. She told Mike that Jessica wanted a mixer before she bought one, and Mike offered up our mixer!! Needless to say, after I explained that our mixer was worth hundreds of dollars, Mike decided we'd leave it the attic. He says he still can't believe a mixer can cost so much and looks forward to tasting it's creations!

April that is just a sin! ha! It would definitely be on my top 10 list too! In fact, we now have 3 at Ashley Mac's (one of them being a giant 20 quart one!) so now I think I need a new one at home (not that I ever have time to bake here anymore!) what to make first? hmmm, maybe an apple cake with all the nice fall spices? yummy!

I'm with you, April! My (pink one b/c I was obsessed with pink 2 1/2 yrs ago when I got married) mixer is collecting dust and has never been used, either. We can have a productive Betty Crocker day together!!

I also cannot believe that you have had this mixer in your attic for four years. I am quite jealous because I would absolutely love to have one of those mixers, but don't want to fork out that kind of money for it!!! Enjoy it!

I do love our mixer but it doesn't get the use it deserves. Ours reaches its peak of productivity around the holidays. I can't wait to get it out and let the celebrations begin!

As someone who does NO baking at all, I don't find it strange that you have had the mixer in the attic for that long. In fact, I'm trying to figure out why you are considering getting it down - you know you will still have to do the baking, right? :) Maybe you can make something yummy and bring it to Brad and I this weekend!

I just bought mine a couple of weeks ago and love it. It is so much easier than regular stand mixers!

I must confess...my Kitchen Aide beauty has been sitting on my counter since we got married in 2004 and I have not used it once. Let me know how it goes and mabye I'll crank mine up!! :)

My grandmother has one of these, and I remember it being a lot of fun to mix things when I was little. All I have is a hand mixer, and I hate using it because I sling stuff all over the place!

We've used our blender maybe three times since we've been married and our fancy-schmancy coffee maker once.

Too funny. I got the same mixer for a wedding present and haven't used it at all either. That was 6 years ago. It's in the clutter cabinet in the garage. I don't plan on getting it out any time soon!!

I would like to go on record as saying that my sister has asked for this exact mixer since her freshman year in college...odd, but true. I am relieved that you are going to knock off the dust because otherwise she would be insanely jealous. Here's to lots of baked goods at the Reed household!
