He finally has a Name...

Eleven days after finding out we're having a baby boy, we have chosen his name.

Our son's name will be Trent Michael Reed.

We will call him Trent. We both really like the name Trent, and Michael is Mike's middle name.

Now we can start monogramming! (Although, Mike probably won't let him wear monogrammed clothes very long.)

I hope everyone has a great Labor Day!! We are heading to the lake tomorrow with some friends. We will be watching lots of college football- Roll Tide!! This time next year, I think Trent will be wearing something like this...

Let the shopping begin...

I've been told that once you find out the sex of your baby, you're ready to start shopping. That is definitely true in my case. I didn't even want to look at baby stuff until last week. Now, I am making up for lost time. Mike and I ordered the furniture for the nursery on Thursday. Thanks to friends' recommendations (thanks Heidi and Brandi!) and the book Baby Bargains, I knew exactly what we wanted when we walked into Storkland. Speaking of Baby Bargains, if you're pregnant (especially for the first time) I would HIGHLY recommend this book. It goes through all of the baby essentials (from cribs and furniture to breast pumps) and talks about each manufacturer (pros and cons) and gives them grades. Expensive designers do not always get A's, and it's made my shopping and research so much easier! Bedding is our next decision, and here's a picture of the front-runner. His furniture is dark wood, so the blue/green/white combination will lighten up the room.

My mom, sister and I tried to shop in the the pouring down rain Saturday. We went to two children stores, and Mama D (my mom) bought baby Reed three super cute outfits. She says they are for Christmas. Mimi (Mike's mom) has also bought baby Reed some Christmas presents. Remember, he's not due until January:)

Finally, here's a picture we took Saturday night before Kelli and Matt's wedding. Remember, Mike likes to look goofy in pictures!

Hopefully my next post will be a name announcement. We have a strong front-runner, but I don't want to put it out there until it's official.

Baby Reed is a....

BOY!!! Everything looked great on the ultrasound this morning. The cherry coke I drank didn't seem to phase him, as he slept most of the time. But he cooperated well enough for us to see everything we needed to see. He measured a little ahead of schedule, but my doctor isn't changing the due date. I joked that he has Tracy's head, because his head measured the most ahead of schedule. Tracy had a large head when she was born; luckily she grew into it beautifully:)

We don't have a name yet. We had a girl name, but now it's time to find a name for our little boy.

I actually created this new blog title last night. I've really been feeling "boy" for the last few days. I figured I could always create a "girl" title if I was wrong. I guess my gut feeling was correct!

Thanks so much for all of your thoughts and prayers. Please continue to pray for baby boy Reed (gosh, he really needs a name!) as he grows bigger over the next 5 months.

3 Days!

Cast your votes, because our big ultrasound is Monday morning at 8:15. I am super excited but also a little nervous. I told Mike yesterday that if God asked me to choose- boy or girl- I don't think I could do it. Luckily, God takes care of that Himself:) I am just praying for a healthy little boy or girl.

My mom and I went to a children's clothing store today, and I saw so many cute boy clothes! Normally, I don't like the boy clothes, so of course I was wondering if that was some sort of sign. My dad and my sister are both guessing girl; Mike and my mom are 50-50.

I'm enjoying the second trimester of pregnancy. Sunday will be 18 weeks. I started wearing maternity clothes, and they are so comfortable! Here is a picture of me that Mike took tonight. My belly looks much bigger when I hold up my shirt, but I'm keeping the blog G-rated.

By the way, my friend Heidi is having a GIRL! She started a blog, so hopefully she will POST soon! They picked the prettiest name ever, but I'll wait and let her share it. We are going shopping Saturday. It will be my first visit to Storkland. I expect to be overwhelmed!

Please keep us in your prayers on Monday. I will make sure to post the news after the ultrasound.

Complete... at least for now

Now that I have somewhat figured out Photoshop, I can't get enough blog design! I've told many friends that I will be happy to "pimp your blogs." You'll have to give me your user name and password (unless somebody can tell me another way), but I promise I won't write any crazy posts:) I've downloaded tons of papers from Shabby Princess, so there are lots of options.

We went to the pool today after church. I sported my new Old Navy maternity tankini, and it was very comfortable. I also went shopping for maternity clothes last week. I spent over $200 at Motherhood (I had $150 in gift cards.) I bought tons of cute stuff, but I am having a super hard time finding maternity suits. I am supposed to wear suits for work, but Motherhood did not have a single suit in stock. I won one on Ebay, but it is pretty scary. It looked cute in the picture, but what I thought was cute stitching was actually lace. Anyone have any maternity suits for sale?

My friend Heidi, who is due 10 days before me, finds out the sex of her baby tomorrow. I am super excited! We are both clueless on what we're having, and the only thing we feel fairly confident about is that we are not having the same gender. So, based on tomorrow, I'll have a better guess about Baby Reed. As of right now (7:00 Sunday night) I'm guessing a girl for Heidi and Brad and a boy for us. I was thinking the opposite at 3:00 today, so that shows how confused I am right now:)

Under Construction...

I'm playing with the blog design again, so it may look weird for a little while.

Opp, Mashed Potatoes and a New Signature

Mike and I went to Opp this weekend to see his parents. We had a great time! We spent most of the time chatting and eating- two of my favorite activities! Cindy cooked a fabulous lunch today after church. We had chicken, mashed potatoes (my recent favorite), peas, rolls and spice cake with cream cheese icing. I brought some cake home, and I'm sure it won't last long.

Speaking of mashed potatoes, I'm not joking when I say I've really been craving them. Mike and I were on our way to dinner at Jason's Deli last week, and we drove by Popeyes Chicken. I told him that I sure would love some mashed potatoes and biscuits. He looked at me like I was crazy and said we were not eating at Popeyes. Well, last Wednesday I had lunch at an office but was running ahead of schedule. It was 11:00; my lunch wasn't until 11:30, and I was starving. Luckily, I had to drive by the Popeyes again. This time I pulled through the drive-through, then ate my mashed potatoes in the parking lot as I waited to go in for my lunch. And to make this story even funnier, I told one of my pregnant friends about my double lunch later that day. She and her husband ended up eating Popeyes for dinner!

Last but not least, I've been trying to figure out the signature thing for a long time now. I was finally successful! I may never be able to change it (or the background), but it makes me happy for now.
