We have discovered one the yummiest treats ever...

If you have a Sam's Club, {and a membership} you are in luck! These sweet treats are around $5 at Sam's. Don't be fooled into thinking you can't eat them all. You can eat them all! Two of them only have 130 calories, so four makes a healthy breakfast. Just put them in the microwave for about 15 seconds, then enjoy the taste of fresh-baked cinnamon rolls.


This was our last one of the morning. We ate six.


We cleaned our plate.


I'm pretty sure Bailey was going for the leftovers on his hand.

Hodgepodge

Has anyone tried to find white sandals for little BOYS? I gave it my best shot and was super excited when I found the ones pictured below. I found them in the boys section of the Pediped site. I obviously missed this sentence, "These light sandals are so comfortable that she won’t want to take them off." I would be willing to let him wear them anyway, because I think they look rather gender neutral. But obviously girls have smaller/slimmer feet, because I could not wiggle cram his feet into these shoes. So, they are now on Ebay. Any takers?

We need new bedding. Our duvet died, and I can't make myself buy another one. I don't want to use the same duvet cover anyway, so I am going back to the old school way of bedding. I actually think comforters are less bumpy and look better when the bed is made. {Don't ask how often that actually happens at our house. Although, I started making an effort when Mike said he really likes a made-up bed. He doesn't ask for much, so I'm working on it.} Here's the front runner for now...

Trent has seven bathing suits. He went from zero to seven so quickly that I didn't realize how many bathing suits he owns. I did not pay full price for any of them and didn't even pay half price for most of them. {Remember all of those consignment sales I talked about?} I just bought number seven last week, because I couldn't resist this cuteness, 50% off at Gap. I actually bought this one in 3T too. I'm finished buying bathing suits now - at least in 2T.

I'm still driving Mike and Trent crazy with my picture-taking obsession. I slacked off for a little while, but I'm going strong again now. Here are some of my favorites from this week...

Thankfully, the little guy is feeling much better and eating like a champ again. I think he ate his weight in ice cream at Jason's Deli tonight:)

Happy Daddy Day!

We are so thankful for the special fathers in our lives! I thank God daily for my incredible family! Mike, my dad, John, and Paw Paw are all so special to us.

I wish I could say we had fun today celebrating the special fathers in our lives, but we spent most of the afternoon in the pediatric office. Trent has a pretty bad cough and quit eating this weekend. {He has NEVER done this before!} After hearing something in his right lung, the doctor ordered a chest x-ray. He said his lung was clear, but he saw signs of the start of pneumonia on the x-ray. So, we started some antibiotic today, and hopefully the little guy will get well soon!


Somebody wants to be just like his daddy:)


We didn't get to see Daddy G today, but if we had, I'm sure there would be lots of this kind of stuff going on. I remember him doing this with me and my sister, and we loved it too!

I know I haven't mentioned Mike's cancer in a while, and it's because everything has/had been going so well since he started SGN-35. However, lately the muscles in his legs have decided to quit working. I know that sounds crazy, but I can't think of another way to describe it. When he walks, it looks like every step is extremely painful. He says it looks worse than it feels, but he admits that it is not comfortable. This might be a rare side effect from SGN-35. We want him to stay on the drug, but his quality of life has always been one of our main concerns. I'm trying not to worry, but I've really been struggling today. Please pray for him/us if you think about it.

17 Months

Trent is 17 months old today! He got a new to him toy. Aren't hand-me downs fun?! Trent sure thinks so!

The "crocs" he's wearing came from CVS. They were only $8 a pair, and we found navy and tan {Thanks to Aunt Tracy for finding the tan ones when I forgot his shoes last weekend!} in his size. I wish I could find more, but I think all of our stores around here are sold out.

I'm not sure why he insisted on climbing up the slide, but he was not going to give up without a fit fight.

I was going to wait until 18 months to do an update, but here are a few quick things I'd like to remember about Trent at 17 months...

- He loves all things outside. I have to bribe him to come inside by asking if he wants an animal cracker. {I'm not proud of this, but it works.}
- He has no fear of water, which can be very scary. I taught swimming lessons in high school and college, and I remember the children who would just let go of the edge of the pool and start to drown go under water. I'd have to grab them and pull them up. They'd come up choking on water and SMILING. Trent is one of those children. He loves going under water! I know it could change next summer, but for now, he can not be near water unless somebody is holding his hand. Getting him out of the big pool is like taking him inside; it usually results in lots of tears.

- If I ask him if he is funny, he will fake laugh. If I asked him if he cried today, he will fake cry. It's hilarious!

He and cousin Trevor had fun skinny dipping last weekend.

Trent's favorite part was dumping water over his head.



I mean, he really enjoyed it...

Why I run late these days...

This all happened in about five minutes one day last week while I was changing clothes...


Don't worry! I can't even open those Dayquil capsules.


Probably not the ideal brush for his hair, but at least he tries to brush it.


He was pushing himself under the bedside table then crawling out- over and over. He seemed to enjoy this game. This one was one of my favorites too, since it didn't involve as much clean-up.

I can't believe he is almost 17 months old! We're having lots of fun these days. Stay tuned for pictures from Touch A Truck.

Memorial Day 2010: the lake, the farmers market and the sprinkler

We spent Sunday at the lake, and we crammed lots of fun into a few hours. Trent hadn't been to the lake since Labor Day last year, so Mama D spent a little time pointing out the boats, water, and trees. Really, she was trying to make him say "boat." He doesn't talk much, and she's determined to expand his vocabulary.



Trent had fun driving the boat with Daddy G. He was a little timid at first, but after a few minutes, he was turning the steering wheel and honking the horn nonstop.

Wow- it's amazing how fast they grow! And thank goodness those bibs are long gone!



This little man had to make sure Trent and Daddy G were keeping their eyes on the water.



After the boat ride, we went to visit Paw Paw. We saw his awesome garden and picked some squash and cucumbers.



Trent was happy to see Paw Paw and totally obsessed with his dog, Cody.





Before dinner, we had to get a cousin shot, since we don't have any pictures of them together. Ha!



Monday morning we made our first family trip to the Farmers Market.



We found lots of great fruits and veggies, and Trent experienced a new way to ride in a buggy.



We wanted to go to the pool when we got home, but it started thundering. We moved on to plan B, and I'd say it was a success.









We ended up going to the pool for a little while after Trent's nap, but the sprinkler experience was more fun for all of us. The pool was super crowded, and Trent is a wild man at the pool. He is fearless, and I think he drank a gallon of water. I have a feeling we will be spending lots of time outside with the sprinkler this summer:)
