Chuck E Cheese

Daddy G {my dad} and I took Trent to Chuck E Cheese today. I had not been to Chuck E Cheese in 20 years, and I don't think much has changed. Well, except for the black light ID stamps.

Trent LOVED it. He loves characters! It blows my mind, since he doesn't like strangers and isn't even friendly towards non-strangers sometimes, but odd-looking characters win him over every time. {Yes, we are looking forward to Halloween.} I told Mike that maybe we should have character-themed family Christmas gatherings this year.

Please excuse the quality of these pictures. I resisted taking my camera to Chuck E Cheese, so these were taken with my phone.

All smiles with Chuck E! Yes, we put him on stage. Nobody else was in the room, so we decided to give him the full experience.

This car played "The Wheels on the Bus." It was also a favorite.

IMG_2419
He liked this one until we put in the token. When it started moving, he was over it.

IMG_2433
Why not give the big scary purple guy a hug?

IMG_2429
He insisted on driving his own car versus sitting in Daddy G's lap.

IMG_2434
I think this one confused him.

This was his face when we walked out of the building. Let's just say he would have preferred to stay longer:)

Happy Birthday Tracy!

DSC_1648

Today is my sister's 27th birthday! I wish I could have celebrated with her at Miyako tonight! She's definitely worth celebrating. Do you think we look alike? I am three and a half years older, so it makes me very happy when people ask if we're twins or question who is older. I graduated from college the same day she graduated from high school. Thankfully my graduation was in the morning, and hers was at night. She was class president and gave a speech. I can't remember what she said, but she did a great job. I wonder if she regrets being an overachiever and being class president all four years, now that she's in charge of planning her reunion next year:)
Tracy has always been 100 times more athletic than me. She is laid back and anti-drama- very atypical for most girls and very lucky for my parents. She's a great wife and mom, and she's often the first person I call when I'm excited, sad or need advice. I am SO thankful that our boys are 7 months apart. I'm hope that one day we will live in the same town, so I can drop by her house and interrupt her naps. Just kidding T!
Happy 27th birthday! I love you!

She was a cute and large baby. I think my shirt is unisex. My parents still have the phone and couch- Just kidding!!

She's always tanned easier and known how to pose better in pictures. I really wish this one was bigger, so you could see my painted shoes.

I bought a sewing machine.

I can't sew, but I bought a sewing machine today. It was somewhat of an impulse buy, which is very unlike me these days. I have been talking about learning how to sew for over a year now, and my sweet friend Maggie helped me make some shorts for Trent earlier this year. However, I did not do any research on machines before I walked into JoAnn's today. My goal was just to look at sewing machines and ask an associate what she recommended for a beginner. My plan went well until Trent decided he was unhappy in the buggy and decided to cry hysterically. This is his new tactic that worked with Daddy G, but does not work with me, especially when Mike is not with us. I actually shocked myself with my calmness during the screaming, but I must have lost all rational judgement, because I purchased the first sewing machine she described as easy-to-use and inexpensive. I watched the DVD tonight, and it went well- probably because the machine was safe in the box. Then I decided to google it, only to find that it has horrible reviews on Amazon. Now I'm trying to decide whether or not I should take it back {and hoping I have the receipt, since I was trying to get the crier out of there as soon as possible.} Does anyone have this sewing machine? Can you recommend it or another one? I just want to make basic stuff- boys shorts/pants, pillows, etc. Thanks in advance for your help; I probably should have asked for advice before our JoAnn's excursion today:)

Last week at our house

DSC_1068
Remember when I wrote about Trent twirling his hair? Apparently hair twirling can get pretty serious. We had to cut this one out. I can usually untie them, but this one required scissors. Any ideas on how to stop the twirling? I'm not quite ready to shave his head.

Mike and I got into a pretty intense debate over the name of this toy. It almost warranted it's own blog post, but we settled for polling friends and family. In case you're wondering, it's a car transporter. I was right. By the way, this is his annoyed face.

DSC_1087
The little guy had an ear infection and took a liking to the thermometer. He kept us up most of the night for a couple of nights, confirming his position as an only child for a while:)

We finally got to pull out our fall clothes!

We even started wearing pumpkins!

But then it got hot again, and lots of snot replaced the cough.

Thankfully, we are on the mend and were able to attend a birthday party this weekend. I think he would play on a playground until he passed out.

You'd never guess that a shy boy would be so brave!

And I would have never guessed that our team would lose its #1 spot yesterday! At least the pressure is off now. The trash talking {from both Alabama and Auburn fans} last night on Facebook was crazy. I think posting "Roll Tide" or "War Eagle" is great, but some people take it too far; therefore, I'm glad there is a hide button. I'll have to catch up with some of my Facebook friends when football season is over.

I'll step off my soapbox now:)

We're heading outside to practice our new skill- jumping. I predict that one of these days he will get off the ground:) Have a great week!

Slumber Party

My sister and I had an applique slumber party this weekend.

Doesn't she look like she's having fun?

Here are the results of my labor. Please don't look too closely, because you will see my mistakes! The big leopard bag is for me. All of the shirts, and the jacket on the bottom right, are for Trent. I worked on a couple of gifts too.

I wish I'd taken a picture of Tracy's stuff, because she made some super cute shirts! I'm sure she will blog about them soon:)

DSC_1033
Of course this little guy was there, too! Thank you Mike, Mama D and Daddy G for playing with him so I could work/play.
