Projects

This is going to shock those of you who know me well, because I am not usually up for projects; however, I currently have a project in the works {two projects if you count Trent's nursery!}

I am attempting to design our Christmas cards this year. Remember when I wrote about buying Adobe Photoshop Elements? Well, as you've probably noticed by the ever-changing blog design, I am slowly figuring out how to use it. After talking to my friend Sarah, I decided to give Christmas cards a whirl. I made three different cards this weekend, uploaded them to Kodak, then ordered one print of each card. If I like one of them, I plan on saving it to a CD and taking it to Costco to make lots of copies. If it doesn't work, we will probably wait and send birth announcements and skip the Christmas cards. Here is one we will probably not use {because Bailey is missing!!}...

**Yes, I decided to use a picture from July because Mike is now bald (but still cute), and I am now large (but not so cute)

As for the nursery, it is slowly coming along. Here is where the little man will sleep...

A glimpse of Trent...

Our 4d ultrasound was today! Trent wasn't thrilled with us for interrupting his afternoon nap, but we got some pretty cute pictures. As many of you know, I was concerned that we were going too early {27 weeks.} Well, it's a good thing we went when we did because apparently my placenta is in front of Trent, and his face is pressed up against it. The technician said if he was much bigger we wouldn't be able to see his little face. In a few of the pictures he looks like his face is pressed against a wall, but he looks very comfortable in there! His head is rested nicely on my bladder, which didn't suprise me at all, considering my frequent bathroom trips.

He kept his arms and hands up against his face the whole time, but he made sure to kick and show us his "boy parts." He yawned a few times and even tried to suck on his toes. It was SO FUN watching him, and I told Mike on the way home that I want an ultrasound machine for Christmas- haha! We can't wait to meet our little man in about three months!

He was super relaxed and even crossed his little feet!

26 weeks and some paint

I've had some requests for a belly picture. My last one was 21 weeks, so I guess it's about time to show how I have Trent has grown. My weekly update says he is 2 pounds now. He moves around a lot, and I like it!

Taken tonight- probably should have chosen another background.

One thing I don't like is stretch mark cream. I know I should use it, but I hate it! I've probably only used it 4-5 times since I've been pregnant. It makes me feel sticky all day {and some of it smells horrible.} I don't have stretch marks yet, but if I get them, I guess I deserve them. {By the way, don't ever tell the ladies at Mimi Maternity you don't use stretch mark cream. They will make you feel horrible.} Maybe I should just suck it up and start using it...


Trent's room is now ready for furniture! Mike's parents came this weekend and not only brought lots of goodies for all of us, but they also helped Mike paint Trent's room. Thank you John and Cindy- Papa and Mimi!

Better go cheer on Tebow! I'm not a Florida fan, but Tebow is an awesome guy {and I can't stand LSU.} Watch this video of him from GameDay last month.

The Nursery

I am not creative, and I can't decorate very well. I'm fine with it; I've accepted it over the years. I admire creative people who can decorate. I have some very talented friends. {I need to do a post on a few of them.}

The whole "nursery" concept is a huge challenge for me. I'd probably be better off back in the days when you just put the baby in a crib in whatever room was vacant. Luckily, Trent's nursery is coming together... slowly. Mike and his dad are painting Saturday {we're sticking with tan; our house is still on the market.} The bedding is here, and the furniture will be here next Tuesday.
We don't have a theme. Because we picked green and blue bedding, I guess those are the colors. My super amazing friend Tracy gave me tons of cute clothes and this banner...

**Don't worry-- we haven't changed his name! Hopefully we one of my creative friends can paint Trent's name over Wilson's name.

Maybe this gives us a "lab/dog" theme. Do these look okay together? Do I have to frame them if they're on canvas?

Speaking of themes, I asked Mike if we really needed a theme for the nursery. He said, "I don't know why you have to have a theme. I mean, why do people have to have monkeys or snakes or whatever?" SNAKES?! Who has a snake theme? He said he was just throwing out animals {or reptiles} but I thought it was hilarious!

Relaxing

I'm tired of looking at the cake picture, so I decided to update the blog. I also made a strawberry cake last week {Holly- your recipe}. I liked it better than the chocolate one, but strawberry cakes are my favorite! I'm not baking this week, because I have my glucose test {and a weight check} next week. Mike rarely eats sweets, so I probably ate an entire bundt cake last week.

After a busy weekend last weekend, we decided to relax this weekend. I have a hard time relaxing at home, because I feel like I should be cleaning, working, etc. so we headed to my parents' cabin in the woods. We watched lots of football and grilled hamburgers for dinner. Sunday morning we sat outside and enjoyed the peace and quiet while Bailey went exploring for scents. She came back with one of her favorite toys, a nice stick.

I'm almost finished reading the first book of Karen Kingsbury's Redemption series. It's quite a stretch from my usual murder mysteries, but I like it. I was a skeptical at first and assumed that christian fiction translated into boring and unrealistic; I've been pleasantly surprised {I know, many of you "told me so."} I'm still anxiously awaiting Harlan Coben's next novel, and I'm always looking for new authors.

I'm signing off because I'm trying to blog and watch the Young and the Restless at the same time. Yes, I still Tivo the Young and the Restless every day! I'm addicted...
