Grandparents and a photo shoot

Grandparents Day was Sunday. After Trent's pictures, {more on that in a minute} we went to Tracy and Travis' house. My mom and dad came over, and they ended up keeping both boys while we went to lunch. We had a great time, and I'm pretty sure my parents had fun, too. Here's what we saw when we got home...

I was told he sang him to sleep:)

Of course we had a grandparents photo shoot. This is my favorite one of Mama D, Daddy G, Trent and Trevor...

This was also the first time Trent ever touched Trevor. All went well, until he tried to grab an ear. It looks like he wanted to taste him in this picture...

Now, back to the topic of the morning photo session. Mari took pictures of Trent again. She is awesome, so I'm sure she got some great ones. But, this time I danced, sang, did jumping jacks worked much harder for those good shots. Trent wanted to eat dirt and grass the whole time, and attempting to capture his attention was close to impossible. Let's just say my hair was soaking wet when we finished, and I never entered water. I'll make sure the post the pictures as soon as I get them. Here's the little man before his pictures...

Mobile

I guess I should have waited one more day on my 8 Months post. Trent is crawling. It's crazy how it just "clicked" tonight. It is hilarious watching him, since he's not smooth yet. But he's mobile. And of course the first place he headed was towards the fireplace!

8 Months

Trent is eight months old today! I hope to make this blog into a book one day, so here are a few details I'd like to remember about our sweet boy...

  • He is oh so close to crawling! He rolls, lunges, scoots, and goes backwards to get anywhere he wants to go; and he rocks constantly... but he's not crawling yet. Is it bad that I'm okay with the fact he's not fully mobile yet?
  • He takes four bottles a day and 16 oz of baby food. He loves to eat!
  • He does not hold his bottle. He doesn't even try to hold it. However, he likes holding his sippy cup.
  • He is a thumb-sucker. He loves his raspberry teether and doesn't take a pacifier anymore.
  • He has many nicknames, but Super T is probably the main one right now {Mike started this one. Anyone remember the singer Super T from college? ha!}
  • He sleeps 10-11 hours at night and takes two naps a day {3-4 hours total}
  • He is showing us his little personality, and it looks like we might have a strong-willed child on our hands. Now who could he have inherited that from?
  • His daddy and Bailey are still hilarious.
  • He loves other children, but adults are a different story... strangers holding him often result in a big bottom lip and tears, which drives his parents crazy.
We are having so much fun with this little man! Mari is taking pictures of him on Sunday, and I can't wait for her to capture some of his priceless expressions.

Mike is working tomorrow, so Trent and I will be watching football at home. Have a great weekend!

Picture update

Here are some pictures from recent happenings around our house..

Trent got a new Jeep. It's probably the only new car his daddy will ever buy him- ha!

He still loves Bailey. They share lots of secrets:)

He's a thumb-sucker, but he's been known to try a big toe every now and then.

He was very excited about Alabama's first game.

He loved playing with Lillian Carter at the lake Labor Day weekend.

He was okay when we put this hat on his head...

So we tried a bucket... and he was even okay with it... for a little while.

He also saw Mama D, Daddy G and Paw Paw at the lake.

That's all for now. I can't believe he is almost 8 months old!

Really?

I am getting tired of seeing eyebrows when I click on the blog.  I bet anyone who has randomly discovered our blog in the last few days thinks we're nuts.   Some days that may be the case.

I am at home today.  Trent is sick.  He has strep and an ear infection.  The ear infection did not surprise me.  He's had a cold for the past few days, and he coughed all night last night.  When he tugged on his ear this morning, I immediately thought "ear infection."

The strep throat, however, blew my mind.  Strep throat, really?  He has taken every ounce of every bottle and eaten every bite of every jar of food.  He had a low-grade fever when his nose was running, but it went away Monday.  He hasn't thrown up one time.  So... unless a snotty nose or a cough is indicative of strep, I'm not a bad mom:)

He weighed 22.9 pounds this morning, which disappointed Mike.  I don't think my poor husband realized that children don't grow at alarming rates their entire lives.  Apparently a pound and six ounces wasn't enough growth in a month for daddy, HA!

I'm already imagining a little tickle in my throat.  Maybe my orange mango banana vivanno smoothie from Starbucks helped.  Yes, I actually tried a new Starbucks drink, and I liked it.  I figure it's a good option for the rare mornings that I actually have time to drink a cup of coffee at home.  It's also a great snack.

I hope everyone has a great Labor Day weekend.  We're heading to the lake with the Carters {after Trent's 48 hours of lock-down is over.}

And since a post without a picture really isn't a post...
