Pumpkin Patch

Monday was my sister's 26th birthday, and we took a family trip to the Pumpkin Patch. We had a great time, and I know Tracy's favorite part was her birthday dinner at Jacks- HA!! There are not many places to eat in the middle of nowhere, and they have amazing french fries:)

Trent loved the hayride. He laughed the whole time. He also laughed at the horses, until one got close to his face- then it wasn't pretty. Trevor slept through most of the fun, but we still included him in lots of pictures. Hopefully the pumpkin patch will become a new tradition.

Shoe story

I honestly never thought much about shoes for Trent. I figured when he started walking, we would buy him some shoes. However, my parents certain family members have been talking about shoes for months and even bought him a pair of cute boots. Unfortunately, Trent has a super fat wide foot, and we couldn't get them on his feet.

Last week, Mike and I took him to buy shoes and came home with a pair of those cute white shoes little boys wear to church. I was excited about him wearing them to church last Sunday... until I tried to put them on him. It was IMPOSSIBLE. I spent 15 minutes trying and gave up because he was crying, and I was sweating. I took them back and got my $50 back. {That was another surprise to me... $50 for a pair of shoes for a 9-month-old?! I don't spend that much on my shoes, and my foot isn't growing anymore!!}

Since it was cold today, I was determined to find him a pair of shoes tonight. I decided to be practical and buy him a pair of casual shoes, since he will probably only wear them to keep his feet warm. {I'm fine with socks for crawling around inside.} We went to a children's shoe store, and they were very helpful. {He wears a size 4 wide, and the cute white shoes were a size 3; no wonder they didn't fit!} We came home with these. Here's the little man modeling his new shoes...

He looked so cute in the shoes, that I decided he needed to try on the hat I bought him today too. He wasn't so sure about it...

He told me his jeans were uncomfortable, so we put on pajama pants...

And then he decided to get brave, and I had to put down the camera.

3/4 of a YEAR

Trent is nine months old {actually nine months and four days, if we're getting technical}. He is pulling up on everything and crawling around everywhere.

Here's some information about our little guy at 9 months:

- His Jeep walker is by far his favorite toy. He will not stay in the Jumperoo anymore, and he'd much rather be exploring than contained in anything.

- Crawling over things/people/dogs is a favorite activity. It made us nervous the first time he crawled over Bailey, but she didn't seem to mind it. I think she actually preferred it to his usual paw-grabbing.

- He's currently transitioning to formula, and thank goodness it is going extremely well. Yes folks, after nine months this mama is no longer a milk machine. My goal was six months, and I made it nine- mission accomplished:)

- He has one tooth. We keep thinking we're going to see more, but this one has been standing solo for a few weeks now.

- He's eating 24 oz of food and drinking 28 oz of milk each day. We're starting to introduce "people food," and he will open his mouth for anything. {Although sometimes it comes back out!}

- He was 29 inches long (75th percentile) and 24.1 pounds (90th percentile) at his 9 month check-up. He cried as soon as he saw the nurse and screamed during his finger-prick, after the nurse informed me that most babies don't cry during the finger-prick, HA!

Best Buds

This happens most days at our house. You can see Mike's feet in the background; he was supervising. Trent loves Bailey! She likes him too, especially when he drops yogurt melts on the floor.

Mari sent me the rest of Trent's 8 month pictures. Since some of you have asked to see more pictures, I thought I'd pass along the link. Go to www.mariwilkes.com, and click on "client proofs" then click on Trent. The password is april.

If you're looking for a photographer, Mari does a great job:)

Here are some of Trent's 8 month pictures. Mari did an awesome job! You'd never guess he wanted to play with grass and eat dirt the whole time:) You can see more on her blog.

Grandparents and a photo shoot

Grandparents Day was Sunday. After Trent's pictures, {more on that in a minute} we went to Tracy and Travis' house. My mom and dad came over, and they ended up keeping both boys while we went to lunch. We had a great time, and I'm pretty sure my parents had fun, too. Here's what we saw when we got home...

I was told he sang him to sleep:)

Of course we had a grandparents photo shoot. This is my favorite one of Mama D, Daddy G, Trent and Trevor...

This was also the first time Trent ever touched Trevor. All went well, until he tried to grab an ear. It looks like he wanted to taste him in this picture...

Now, back to the topic of the morning photo session. Mari took pictures of Trent again. She is awesome, so I'm sure she got some great ones. But, this time I danced, sang, did jumping jacks worked much harder for those good shots. Trent wanted to eat dirt and grass the whole time, and attempting to capture his attention was close to impossible. Let's just say my hair was soaking wet when we finished, and I never entered water. I'll make sure the post the pictures as soon as I get them. Here's the little man before his pictures...
