What sport would you choose?

Mike and I often ask one another hypothetical questions. Sometimes it's to make sure we're on the same page, and other times it's just for fun. Here's tonight's conversation...

Mike: "If we have a son one day, and he can only play one sport, which one would you choose?"
Me: "Will he be really good at it, since I can only choose one?""
Mike: "Yes, and you can choose anything."
Me: "Golf"
Mike: "Golf?! Why golf?"
Me: "Because you never hear of golfers getting hurt, and they are usually cute."
Mike: "Wow! I'd never choose golf."
Me: "What would you choose?"
Mike: "Football. You learn more playing football than you do in all the other sports combined."
Me: "Really?! I still vote golf!"

What do you think? Ask your husbands too, because I wouldn't have thought Mike would've picked football over baseball. He says football teaches a good work ethic. I see broken bones. Luckily this is one we won't have to worry about for a while:)

The Lake

I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend! Ours was super fun but started off a little rocky. We flew home from Houston Friday afternoon. We were excited to see that the Birmingham traffic wasn't the nightmare we expected. Mike and I drove separately, so he was in front of me on I-65 when traffic suddenly stopped. Thankfully I managed to hit the breaks and didn't hit Mike, but the person behind me wasn't as fast and hit me from behind. Bailey and I were both fine, but my bumper was damaged, so we called the police. Luckily the whole ordeal only took about 30-45 minutes, and we were south-bound again.

We headed to the lake Saturday and stayed until Monday. We had a great time eating, socializing and relaxing... probably in that order. Heidi and Brad spent the night Saturday night, and we had a great dinner at The Cove. My family came Sunday after church. We took a long boat ride, and Sunday night we had a pretty intense game night. I won four games of domino's (Travis won five), and then we started the never-ending Uno game. We finally had to stop because after an hour everyone had tons of cards, and there was no end in sight.

We finished the weekend by spending some time at the the land (aka my dad's favorite place on earth!)

I wish every weekend was a 3-day weekend!

Shaving Lesson

Mike was supposed to write this post, but after he posted on his page and it resulted in me handing over the author duties, I think he's skeptical about writing on the blog.

Bailey got shaved a couple of weeks ago, and it was a great decision! She sheds horribly, and shaving her really cuts down on the shedding. We shaved her once at the end of last summer, and I'd been counting down the days to do it again. I personally feel that she'd be perfectly fine shaved year-round, but Mike adamantly disagrees. He won't let me get her teethed clean, either (he really thinks the anesthesia will kill her), but that's a story for another post.

When I dropped her off at the grooming appointment, they asked if I wanted them to shave her head and tail or leave them alone. I didn't have a clue, so I asked the girl what she thought looked better. She suggested shaving the tail but leaving her head unshaven, so I took her advice. It probably wasn't a good decision on my part. When I picked her up, I thought she looked great and quickly took her to the car. As I was sitting at a stop light, I turned around and saw this...


Poor Bailey!! I think she knew that her tail resembled a garden snake, because she seemed a little embarrassed. Thankfully her pretty face and the rest of her body made up for her scary tail. Lesson learned: Shave the dog, but leave the head and the tail, especially if you have a lab.

4 Years!!

Mike and I will celebrate FOUR great years of marriage on May 1st. These pictures were taken when we first saw each other on the big day. As you can see, we were pretty excited:)

Unfortunately, I will be in Atlanta for work Wed-Friday (and May 1st is Thursday), so we are celebrating this weekend. We are going to see Jerry Seinfeld in Atlanta on Friday night, and we're going to find something fun to do around here on Saturday night. Happy Anniversary Mike! I love you mucho!

5k for Footprints

Mike and I completed our first 5k (together) on Saturday. We walked in the March of Dimes "Walk for Babies" with the Footprints group. Our friend Kim Wilson started Footprints in Montgomery, and it's taken off and done amazingly well. She has a special gift, and so many people have been blessed by the ministry. Footprints also has a blog, which is great for prayer requests.

I'm trying to talk Mike into blogging. He writes well, and I think his posts would be pretty funny. We'll see if it actually happens!

On another note, I'm excited because Bailey is getting SHAVED tomorrow!! Does anyone else have labs, or other dogs that shed horribly? Shaving is the way to go when it's hot outside. The next post will show before and after pictures-- of her and maybe even the hardwood floors!

Faith

When I started this blog, I decided to stay away from the "c" word (cancer). We have Mike's CaringBridge site for health updates, so I wanted to keep this blog fun and light-hearted.
