New Favorites

I love favorite things posts! Hint Hint fellow bloggers! Here's a quick list of some of my new favorite things...


Hormones make hair do crazy things! After Trent, not only do I have baby bangs, but my hair is also a little wavy. This stuff smells great and gives your hair a wavy, beachy look.


I love my new camera strap! This is not my camera or my strap, but mine is black and white and also by Howard Avenue. It's longer than the average strap and very comfortable! It doesn't have a pocket for the lens cover, but I didn't know those existed until after I bought this one. Does anybody have one with a pocket? If so, where did you get it?


This is the photo editing software I got for my birthday. I have a long way to go before I can use it to it's full potential, but I'm having fun playing with it.

Trent and I both love these! I figure at only 100 calories a pack, two packs is totally justifiable.

I don't have a picture for this one, but if you have a Costco nearby, you need to try one of their rotisserie chickens. They are three pounds, only $5, and you can eat them immediately! They are wonderful!!

Finally, playing with my camera is my favorite hobby.


We went to Opp last weekend to visit Mimi and Papa. They have beautiful azaleas in their yard, and I couldn't wait to take pictures of Trent in front of them. However, he had absolutely no interest in them and enjoyed playing with sticks and dirt instead.


Wouldn't this be a great background? Maybe next year:)


Believe it or not, they do this all of the time! She has a very soft bite around Trent.


I was very happy they were all looking at the camera!


Washing your hands is fun when you can do it outside!

Simple Things

And by the looks of it, I need to add tennis balls to my shopping list.

30 and 15 months

I turned 30 on Friday, and Trent was 15 months on Sunday. We had an action-packed weekend that started with a trip to the zoo on Friday.

While Trent enjoyed seeing some animals, he preferred to do this all morning...

I'm serious. The boy LOVED walking alongside the stroller.

When he got tired of walking, he relaxed for a little while.

Since we couldn't touch most of the animals, he went for the bushes.

The giraffes were my favorite!

This guy was pretty cool too.

"Really, we have to leave? I didn't get to hug any animals!"

Mike and I attended a ball Saturday night, and our friends Will and Ammie came in town to watch the adult dance recital go with us. We had lots of fun and stayed out later than we have in at least 15 months. Unfortunately, Ammie fell down our stairs in the middle of the night and broke her wrist. {It was dark; we have hardwood stairs, and she was wearing socks. See how it could happen?} Apparently Ammie has an amazing pain tolerance, because she went back to bed after it happened. She didn't go to the doctor until the next day when she got home. We feel SO badly that it happened and really hope Will and Ammie will come back to visit. We promise to leave the lights on:)

We celebrated my birthday with my family on Sunday. My recent photography addiction was obvious when I received a new lens and a new editing program for my birthday! {Thanks Mom and Dad!}

As with all "Miller family" gatherings, a photo shoot was essential. This was one of my favorites:)


Mike surprised me with this cake! It was a hint to what he'd planned for Sunday and Monday. I could do a whole post on this topic, but I will just say that I have an amazing husband who went all out for my 30th birthday!!


Trent remembered how we let him dig into his cake on his birthday and wasn't thrilled when we held him back this time.

Finally, this little man's 15-month appt. was this morning. He loved his doctor but hated the nurse {he remembered that she is the one who gives shots.} We got a great report! He was 27.5 pounds and 31.5 inches long {75th percentile for both.}


He still loves seeing his daddy in the afternoons!


This lasted for about three seconds:)

And since this post is already entirely too long, I wanted to answer a couple of question from my last post. The photography class I'm taking is through the Parks and Recreation department. It's $75 for four two-hour classes. It's nothing fancy, but since I'm just taking pictures for fun, it's perfect for me. My camera is a Nikon D60. I don't think they are making this model anymore, but I'm pretty sure it's equivalent to the Nikon D3000. Okay, I better end this before blogger cuts me off:)

Addicted

My name is April, and I'm addicted to taking pictures {and Starbucks, but we'll focus on the recent addiction for now.}


I thought taking a photography class would help me take better pictures. The verdict is still out on that one, but it has definitely resulted in MORE pictures. My camera {and it's cute new strap} is attached to me all of the time. Mike and Trent are over it... too bad I don't give up easily! Here are some of my recent favorites:



How does a baby turn into a little boy when you change his outfit? Seriously, it's crazy how much older he looks in shorts and a polo!

He knows he has to step up onto the sidewalk, and his up is nice and high.




This is how Trent felt about his first Easter egg hunt. I felt this way too by the time we left!


Thank goodness he bounced back after the hunt. So, what does that mean? More pictures! I'm not sure what we are going to do with a million pictures of Trent and Trevor, but we got some cute ones!


This face would have made for some cute egg hunting pictures. Oh well- there's always next year!

The Easter bunny came to our house. I see a photo session with the jersey in our future.


I let him try some gross candy, in hopes that he won't become addicted like his mama... or get bad teeth! Sorry buddy, no peanut butter M&M's for a while!


This was his first time wearing an outfit like this, and I thought it was precious. Mike did not comment.




He loves windows. He especially likes looking at Bailey through the window; she just hopes he can figure out how to open the door.

Ultimate Sacrifice

As I was rocking Trent to sleep last night, I thought about God giving His only son as a sacrifice for our sins. I've always celebrated Easter, and I thought I appreciated this sacrifice. But last night as I was rocking my only son, it put everything into a very real perspective.

I couldn't do it. I wouldn't do it. Even if it would save the whole world, I couldn't give Trent. But God gave us Jesus. And although I don't deserve it, I am so thankful for this ultimate sacrifice.

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead," 1 Peter 1:3

Photography, Design and Consign

We've had a crazy busy week. Monday night I attended my first photography class. I learned so much and was super excited... until I got home and realized that the tips I'd learned didn't result in perfect pictures. I have three more classes, and I'm looking forward to them. Here are some of my pictures from this week:

Tuesday night I had a dinner program for work. It went well, and I was glad it was close to home:)

Wednesday I met with a fabulous interior designer, and I'm so excited about working with her! Mike and I are currently discussing my least favorite part of this process- the budget. Mike doesn't see the need to spend as much money as I'd like to spend. Big shocker, right? He did make two decorating requests: He'd like a clock that he can see from his recliner in the den, and he'd like to be able to reach his lamp on his bedside table without getting out of bed. I'm not kidding.

Tonight I went to my 4th consignment sale of the season. I seriously can't get enough of these things! The key is to consign, so that you can shop early. I learned this late in the game, but it paid off tonight. I spent $114 and got all of this stuff, plus two jon jon's that aren't pictured, because I'm getting them monogrammed. I would have gotten lots more, but a lady had just transferred about 30 boys smocked outfits from the rack to her buggy as Tracy and I walked in the door.

Check out the big guy/little guy t-shirts. They were five dollars and in Mike and Trent's sizes, so I couldn't resist!

We're looking forward to celebrating Christ's resurrection with friends and family this weekend.
